A new Marathon section has been added to this website, which details everything about this fantastic weekend.  If you or your company are interested in getting involved, either as a sponsor, with an offer of prizes or to enter a team, please get in touch today!

(24/04/12) Hugh off to play for Dolphins - We are thrilled to report that Hugh Anderson has secured a contract with the Immovesta Dolphins in Germany’s top league for next season. He went to Germany a few weeks ago for a one week trial, and impressed their coaching staff with his all round skills and was snapped up by the team for the 2012/2013 season. Bombers will be sad to lose such a talented player, who over the last 3 years with us has been instrumental in gaining promotion from 3rd to 1st Division. We wish him all the best in his step into the professional competition.

(24/04/12) First Team end of a high - Bury Bombers first team met the Division 1 South Champions on Sunday for their last game of the season.  Although injury continued to keep Aiden out of the game and Hugh played with a damaged wrist, the team put up an incredible fight to win the game 51 - 47.  Hugh scored two 3 pointers in the final quarter to gain Man of the Match and Jack Perry scored 23 points to give him Shot of the Day.  This win secures second place in Division 1 South; an amazing achievement considering its the team’s first year at this level.

Bury Bombers 1 vs. Capital GLL Raiders

51 - 47 (Win)
(24/04/12) Learning season ends with loss for Bombers 2 - Bombers lost to the Division 3 Central champions on Saturday, 16 - 55. However, this season has been incredibly useful for the young and inexperienced Bombers second team and although they finished 5th out of 6 teams in Division 3 Central, the team have steadily improved, both as individuals and a single unit.  The future looks promising for this team.
(21/04/12) MARATHON DATES RELEASED - This year’s fundraising marathon, again over two days, will take place on the 14th/15th July at Culford School Sports Centre.  This is the clubs only major source of income for the year.  We would welcome all club members, their friends and families plus local businesses to enter the tournament.  Details will soon be available on the website, but please reserve these dates in your diary.
(20/04/12) Jack Perry in Final 16 - Bury Bombers very own Jack Perry has made it to the final 16 for the Great Britain Under 23 team in selection for the European Championships this year.  The whole team wish Jack all the best and hope he will make it to the final 12 who will  represent GB in the tournament.
(19/04/12) New Players at Bombers - The Bury Bombers are pleased to have attracted several new players to the club, who are training with the Junior and Development group and are working on their game skills.  We hope to continue to attract further players and if you are interested in joining, please refer to the Team Information section for contact details.
(07/04/12) Brand new Website - Welcome to the brand new website of the Bury Bombers wheelchair basketball club.  Our Webmaster, Hugh Anderson, has been working incredibly hard on creating this new and improved website, which not only looks fantastic, but also is a lot easier to use.  Keep tuned for continuing updates that will make this website even better!!
(18/03/12) Tough defeat against Aces - After defeating the First team on Sunday, MK Aces are the only team this season to defeat Bombers in both Home and Away matches.  The First team took a drastically reduced squad to Aylesbury and although there were some brilliant individual performances, the team had no chance against the vastly experienced home side who also had a complete bench of players.  Final score 48 - 33.
(17/03/12) Jaguars rule at Newark - Bombers 2 could do nothing to stop Jaguars on Saturday dominating the visiting team throughout the match and winning easily.  Bombers hope they can finish their season on a high against Cobras, although this will be a tall order as Cobras are Division 3 Central champions.
(11/03/12) Defeat in Exeter despite impressive performance - The First team travelled to Exeter to play the Otters.  Despite missing Aiden Hughes, the team put in an impressive performance against the home team closely matching them in every quarter and winning the last.  However, Bombers still lost by just 5 points but should be proud of their performance.  Final score 54 - 49.
(26/02/12) Positive game for First Team - Bombers faced SWBC Tigers on Sunday, and although Aiden Hughes was still missing from the squad due to his continuing injury, the home team managed to pull together and defeat a vastly improved Tigers in fine style.  Final score 58 - 32.
(12/02/12) Troublesome period continues - It was Aiden Hughes's turn to miss a match and this proved damaging for the home team who faced a rejuvenated Tornados who were in fine form.  Bombers played incredibly well considering they were missing a key player but sadly could not stop the away team taking charge in the final quarter and winning the match 40 - 50.
(12/02/12) Second win of the year for Bombers 2 - Coventry Crusaders travelled to Newmarket on Sunday to face the Bombers second team.  Being the only team Bombers 2 have defeated all season, and with their recent improved performances, they went into the match in confident style.  They played their best match of the season and won 33 - 10.
(29/01/12) Essex too strong for injured Bombers - Bombers travelled to Essex on Sunday to play the Outlaws, who unlike Bombers had a full line up of players.  Jack Perry was ill for this away match and this proved costly for Bombers who couldn't keep up with the impressive Outlaws who controlled the match from early on.  Final score 68 - 48.
(29/01/12) Second team continuing to improve - The second team faced Lowriders in Norwich and put in an impressive performance.  Although Bombers lost 36 - 22, the smaller gap between the two teams scores demonstrates the continuing improvement of the second team.
(21/01/12) Tough year continues for Second team - The second team travelled to Comberton on Sunday to play Hereward Heat.  Although the Bombers put in a better performance than their previous encounter with Heat, they still lost heavily, 70 - 20.
(15/01/12) GB Women no match for Bombers - The Southern GB Women's team travelled to Newmarket for the return match against the Bombers.  The First team put in an excellent performance against the National squad coming out as impressive winners 51 - 34.
(11/12/11) Bombers bounce back in style - After last weeks defeat against MK Aces, Bombers First team went back to winning ways in emphatic style, beating a vastly experienced and talented GLL Raiders team from London in a thrilling match!  Final score was 60 - 58 to Bombers, which puts the team firmly at the top of the league!!
(08/12/11) BBC East Sports Awards - The Bury Bombers First Team were nominated for Team of the Year at the BBC East Sports Awards.  The ceremony, at Bedford University, was attended by both past and present sporting legends from the East.  The Bombers were up against Norwich Football Club, and amazingly, Red Bull Formula 1 Racing.  Although Bombers didn’t win, just to be mentioned alongside such greats was an absolute honour and shows how far the team have come in a few short years.
(08/01/12) Bombers Second outclassed in Leicester - The Second team played what looks like the Division 3 Central champions on Sunday and were had no chance against the home team.  Cobras pressed until they created a big enough lead to effectively guarantee the win.  However, Bombers 2 are improving, both in the players individual performances and also as a team.  Final score 46 - 16.
(03/12/11) First Team experience first league defeat in two years - “It had to end sometime!”.  Sadly, it shouldn’t have ended against MK Aces, who were gifted the win after Bombers missed several opportunities, allowing the experienced Aces to clean up and win by a narrow 3 points.  The game ended 34 - 37!  However, the team have been spurred on by this loss and are determined to get back to winning ways as soon as possible!!  Bombers are still top of Division 1 South!!
