Bury Bombers 22 vs. Cardiff Celts 33
After a short break the Bombers played the Cardiff Celts, who had strength and breath in their team. Although the Bombers had already played a 40 minute game, all our players still played to their full strength, giving 100%!
We started well with a basket from James followed by another point from a free throw, as he was fouled while shooting. However, the game was a tough one and this lead was soon taken away. At half time we were only trailing by 2 points. During the third quarter our defence broke down under a stronger line up and Celts gained a bigger lead, being 8 points up by the start of the final quarter. We tried to fight back, even using a full court press, but Celts were too quick and managed a number of fast breaks giving them lay-up opportunities (not that they scored all of them!). If they had scored a higher percentage of their lay-ups they would have had a much larger lead, but we put the Celts shooters under a lot of pressure, which really helped!
We were eventually beaten 22-33. All the Bury Bombers played exceptionally well, and are looking forward to more adventures in the 4th Division!
