Club Diary
pp93f9484e.jpg
At the end of the 2000/2001 season the Club nearly closed down.  Many players left the Club, some moving onto other sports, some concentrating more on school, and one was offered a position with a club in a higher division.

The adult committee were very keen that the Bombers didn’t close down and so the Club continued to meet but only used half of the Leisure Centre Hall to cut costs.   Basketball wheelchairs were used in a roadshow at a local school which generated some interest resulting in an increase in Club numbers.

Although there were still only a few disabled players, the numbers increased with the arrival of their able-bodied friends and the Club were able to hire the whole hall, instead of just half, for the second part of the session.  Once the Club attracted more disabled players, the whole hall was able to be booked for the whole time.

The club received a grant from a Local Network Fund to enable the purchase of four purpose built wheelchairs and to secure hire charges of the hall for the next year.
